Ajax, formally AFC Ajax, is a professional football club from Amsterdam, Netherlands, and one of the most decorated clubs in European football. Founded in 1900, it competes in the Eredivisie, the top tier of Dutch football, where it holds the record for the most league titles. The club plays its home matches at the Johan Cruijff Arena, named after its most famous graduate. Ajax is historically associated with 'Total Football', the style shaped in the 1970s under which it won three consecutive European Cups from 1971 to 1973, later adding the 1995 Champions League.
