Information on the processing of personal data for journalistic purposes

maxtv.mediarale.com (including its subdomains, together the “Platform”) publishes sports schedules, live scores, results and sports news. Journalistic content on the Platform — articles, match reports and related coverage — may contain personal data of the people it reports on, such as athletes, coaches, officials and other sports personalities (“you” or “yours”). This notice explains how we collect, use and protect personal data in connection with that news content, in any language version or location. It supplements our Privacy Policy, which covers visitor accounts, cookies and advertising.

1. Who we are and how to contact us

The controller of personal data processed for journalistic purposes on the Platform is the operator of maxtv.mediarale.com. For any matter relating to this notice — questions, requests or complaints — contact us by e-mail at [email protected], the official channel for all communication regarding this website.

2. Personal data processed

The personal data published within journalistic content on the Platform, or processed while preparing such content, is determined by the public's interest in sports information. It may include, in particular:

Identifying information — name, age and nationality.
Photographs, recordings and statements of a personal nature, in particular interviews and quotes attributed to you.
Affiliation details — your involvement in sport or public life, or membership of a particular group (for example a sports club or national team).
Sporting activity data — participation in matches and events, performances, results and related statistics.
Special categories of personal data directly linked to your sporting or professional activity (for example an injury and the related medical condition). We process and, where appropriate, disclose such data proportionately and only where we have concluded that there is a significant public interest in doing so.

Journalistic content may also contain supplementary information about you — such as family relations, employment, achievements or education — which we likewise handle proportionately and only on the basis of substantial public interest.

3. Purpose and legal basis of the processing

Personal data in journalistic content is processed under Article 85 of Regulation (EU) 2016/679 (“GDPR”), which reconciles data protection with the right to freedom of expression and information, including processing for journalistic purposes, and — where applicable — under Article 6(1)(f) GDPR on the basis of our legitimate interests in reporting on sport, defending ourselves against legal claims and substantiating the accuracy of what we publish.

The specific purposes are:

Preparation, processing and publication of content — as source material for text, image or audio content; to demonstrate the accuracy of published content; and, for images and recordings we are authorised to publish, as part of a media library.
Creating keywords and structure — to build databases, categorise and organise journalistic content, and generate keywords and tags (for example player, team and competition pages) so the public can find and navigate information more easily.

We do not carry out any automated individual decision-making concerning you within the meaning of Article 22 GDPR.

4. How long we process personal data

Data used only in preparing content is no longer processed once it is not used and no forthcoming material relies on it.
Data published as part of journalistic content is stored in the systems operating the Platform, including its electronic archive, without a fixed time limit.
Data kept to substantiate a legitimate interest — in the event of disputes, or to verify the accuracy of published content — may be processed for as long as that justification lasts; we cease processing when it no longer applies.
Keywords and tags are kept for as long as the content they refer to is stored.
Images and recordings in our media library are kept for the duration of the licence or other authorisation to publish them, or of the copyright in them.

5. Controller and processors

We determine the purposes and means of this processing and are responsible for carrying it out properly. We also use processors who act only on our instructions and for the purposes described above — providers of technical services such as hosting, content delivery and software development.

6. Other recipients

Personal data within journalistic content is published and available to the public on the Internet. We may also share journalistic content on social networks; in that case your data may be transferred to third countries outside the EU/EEA, including countries without an adequacy decision. Where that happens, we rely on the appropriate safeguards set out in Article 46 GDPR, such as standard contractual clauses.

7. Your rights

You have rights over your personal data, which we honour to the extent appropriate. Because this data is processed for journalistic purposes, the law allows certain exemptions where applying a right would be incompatible with freedom of expression and information; each request is assessed by balancing your rights against the public interest in the reporting.

Right of access. You may ask what personal data we process about you, for what purpose and for how long. We are entitled to protect journalistic sources: we need not disclose the source of information or whether it comes from publicly available sources, and access may be refused where it would jeopardise the purposes of the processing or require disproportionate effort.
Right to rectification. If personal data we have published about you is inaccurate or incomplete, you may request correction without undue delay. When we correct published content, we indicate the update in the content concerned.
Right to erasure. If you believe the processing of your personal data has unreasonably affected your personality rights, you may request deletion. We may decline where the public interest in the information prevails, where the data is processed solely for journalistic expression, or where granting the request would require disproportionate effort; where we do delete, we indicate the update in the content concerned or inform you by other appropriate means.
Right to restriction of processing. You may ask that data undergo no further processing operations for a limited period where we no longer need it for the purposes above and you need it to establish, exercise or defend legal claims, provided this does not require disproportionate effort on our part.
Right to object. You may object to a specific disclosure or publication based on our legitimate interest. Please give the specific reasons why, in your circumstances, the protection of your rights and freedoms outweighs the public interest in freedom of expression. If we conclude that it does, we will stop the disclosure in question.
Right to lodge a complaint. None of the above affects your right to complain to the data protection supervisory authority of your country of residence or place of the alleged infringement, if you believe we process your personal data unlawfully.

8. Exercising your rights

Send any enquiry, request or complaint concerning personal data in journalistic content to [email protected]. We respond without undue delay and at the latest within one month; in complex cases we may extend this by up to two further months, in which case we will inform you of the extension and its reasons.

9. Changes to this notice

We may revise or update this notice from time to time; the current version is always available on the Platform. Please check it periodically to stay informed about how personal data is processed in our journalistic content and about your rights.
