Racing Club is one of the great traditional clubs of Argentine football, based in Avellaneda on the southern edge of Buenos Aires. A multiple national champion, the club famously won the Copa Libertadores and the Intercontinental Cup in 1967, becoming champions of the world. Nicknamed La Academia, it enjoys a fierce local derby with neighbour Independiente and plays at the Estadio Presidente Perón, roared on by a huge and devoted support.
