Universidad de Chile is one of the two biggest football clubs in the country, based in the capital, Santiago. A record-challenging multiple champion known as La U, with a huge national following, the club is famous for its swashbuckling Ballet Azul side of the 1960s and its Copa Sudamericana triumph in 2011. It shares the fierce Superclásico rivalry with Colo-Colo.
Huachipato is a Chilean football club from Talcahuano, an industrial port city beside Concepción in the south of the country. Owned by the CAP steel company and nicknamed the Steelmakers, the club won the Chilean Primera División title in 2012 and again in 2023. It plays at the Estadio CAP and proudly represents the heavy-industry heartland of southern Chile.
