RB Leipzig is a German football club from Leipzig, in the eastern state of Saxony, founded in 2009 with the backing of the Red Bull company. In a rapid rise the club climbed from the lower divisions to the Bundesliga, where it has become a Champions League regular and a German Cup winner. Its modern approach has made it both successful and, for some traditionalists, controversial.
