Deportivo Saprissa is a Costa Rican football club from San Juan de Tibas, in the San Jose metropolitan area, founded in 1935 and named after benefactor Ricardo Saprissa. Nicknamed the Monstruo Morado (Purple Monster), it is the most successful club in Costa Rica, a record national champion and a CONCACAF Champions Cup winner with a huge nationwide following.
