Home club
Adelaide Football Club, known as the Crows, is a professional Australian rules football club based in Adelaide, South Australia. It competes in the Australian Football League (AFL), the sport's premier national competition, which it entered in 1991 after being established in 1990. The club plays its home games at Adelaide Oval, one of the country's best-known sporting venues. Adelaide enjoyed its most successful period in the late 1990s, winning back-to-back AFL premierships in 1997 and 1998. Its defining rivalry is the Showdown against fellow South Australian club Port Adelaide, a fixture that regularly draws the largest crowds in the state and ranks among the most anticipated derbies in Australian sport. The club also fields a side in the AFL Women's competition. As one of only two AFL clubs representing South Australia, Adelaide commands a large supporter base across the state, and its fixtures are broadcast by the competition's official media partners.
