Aberdeen Football Club is a professional Scottish football club based in the city of Aberdeen. Competing in the Scottish Premiership, the top division of Scottish football, the club plays its home matches at Pittodrie Stadium. Nicknamed the Dons, Aberdeen enjoyed its most famous era in the early 1980s under manager Alex Ferguson, winning the 1983 European Cup Winners' Cup and the European Super Cup, along with Scottish league titles and cups. It remains one of the strongest clubs in Scotland outside the Glasgow pair and retains a large, loyal support in the north-east.
